BAGHDAD, Iraq: At least 17 persons were killed while 41 others sustained injuries in a series of car bombings which targeted a Shiite mosque and markets in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Friday.
In the deadliest attack, an explosives-laden car which was parked near the al-Mubarak mosque in Karrada district exploded, killing at least eight persons and injuring 18 others.
Later, nine more persons were killed and 23 others injured when two car bombings occurred in two outdoor markets, one in Nahrawan and the other in Bayaa areas.
