China praises Pakistan's efforts for war on terror

BEIJING, China: The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has lauded the steps taken by Pakistan against terrorism and said that the country is moving in right direction in curbing the menace of terrorism.

Talking to the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Beijing on Wednesday, the Chinese foreign minister said that China is with Pakistan in journey of progress.

On the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that China-Pak Economic Corridor will open new chapter in relations between the two countries.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the Pakistani people are eagerly waiting for the Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Islamabad.

LNG-run power plants being installed in Punjab: Shahbaz

Separately, talking to Chinese investors and construction experts in Beijing on Wednesday, Shahbaz Sharif said that the liquefied natural gas (LNG)-run power plants are being installed in Punjab to generate 3,600 megawatt electricity.

The chief minister expected that these plants will start functioning by the end of 2017.

Shahbaz Sharif invited the Chinese companies to participate in construction of these plants. He pledged that every possible security will be provided to Chinese investors in Pakistan.
