ISLAMABAD: Former Olympian and Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Zakir Hussain Syed died of cardiac arrest in Islamabad on Thursday night, he was 73, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Friday.
Zakir Hussain was the first Pakistani chief executive of the PSB. As the youngest ever director general of the board, he came to this organization as a virtually unknown commodity and left behind a legacy of success and brilliance.
He was awarded the President’s Medal for the Pride of Performance. He was the first recipient of such a highest honour in sports administration and management in the country.
His funeral prayer will be offered in his native village Kotli Amir Ali near Sialkot at 4:00 pm on Friday (today).
