LAGOS: At least eight persons were killed when a small passenger plane carrying 20 people crashed shortly after take-off from Lagos airport in Nigeria on Thursday, officials said.
“We have recovered eight bodies so far, while one person who is badly injured is being taken to the hospital,” said Ibrahim Farinloye of the National Emergency Management Agency, adding that the rescue operation is still underway.
The aviation officials said that the engine of the plane, operated by Associated Airlines, appeared to fail and the aircraft plunged to the ground and burst into flames.
