BAKU, Azerbaijan: Six personnel of the Azerbaijan army lost their lives in fierce fighting which still continued on Wednesday with the Armenian forces in the Tovuz region at the border, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense said as reported by AZERTAC.

“On the night of July 13-14 and in the morning, fierce fighting continued on the site of the Tovuz region of the Azerbaijan-Armenia state border,” Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense said.

Apart from him, Colonel Mirzoyev Ilgar Anzor, Major Ahmadov Namig Hajan, Major Novruzov Anar Gulverdi, Warrant Officer Zeynalli Ilgar Ayaz, Warrant Officer Babayev Yashar Vasif, and Non-Commissioned Officer soldier Mustafazadeh Elchin Arif also died. Meanwhile, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense expressed condolences to the families of the deceased military personnel and whished them patience. “May Allah rest the souls of Shehids in peace!,” it prayed. Besides, a few servicemen of Azerbaijan army also suffered injuries and provided immediate medical treatment. However, none of them is serious. The enemy’s military and combat equipment for various purposes, command post, reserves in the depths of defense were destroyed, and hundreds of its servicemen were killed as a result of punitive measures undertaken to suppress the enemy’s activity. Currently, the situation in this area remains tense, fierce battles are continuing. The enemy also fires on civilians and our human settlements. Retaliatory action against the enemy continues. “Our units fully control the operational situation,” the ministry said.

Those Azerbaijani military personnel who died in the fight included Major General Major General Hashimov Polad Israil.
