BAGHDAD: At least four people were killed and 21 others were wounded when a suicide bomber attacked members of an Iraqi-government backed Sunni militia group on Monday in just north of Baghdad, police said.
According to reports, the bomber detonated his explosives among sunni tribal fighters from the Sahwa militia, Sons of Iraq, who were gathering at an office in Taji, 20 km (12 miles) north of the capital.
In Iraq, it was the seventh suicide bombing over a month, indicating Sunni insurgents are seeking to expand their campaign to stoke tensions against the Shi’ite-led government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
