ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold election for the post of Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on November 2.
In the orders issued by Chief Justice IHC Justice Shaukat Siddiqui, the ECP was directed to make arrangements of the election of a new PCB chief as per the procedure laid down by International Cricket Council (ICC).
The court directed the ECP to issue election schedule on Tuesday. At which, the cricket board counsel stated that the board is ready to hold the polls in the light of court orders and under the ICC code.
In its orders, the court said that adhoc committee acting setup of the cricket board would become dysfunctional after the elections.
Senior journalist Najam Sethi is currently heading PCB’s adhoc committee appointed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
