LAHORE, Pakistan: The national cricket team captain Misbah-ul Haq has announced to retire from one-day internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 cricket after the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.

Talking to the media persons at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday, Misbah said that the team is going to play world cup with a positive thinking and it will make all-out endevours to win the cup.

The 40-year-old Misbah said that he would strive hard to produce best result in the world cup so as to materialize the dream of becoming world champion of cricket.

The skipper said that he has been in search of an appropriate time since long for announcing his retirement. He paid thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for extending cooperation to him.

On the occasion, the PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan said that Misbah-ul Haq has taken a decision of his own and the PCB respects it.

Shaharyar Khan applauded the performance of Misbah-ul-Haq, and said that the board will keep utilizing his expertise and technique even after his retirement. He said that the players like Misbah-ul-Haq are scarce.

Last month, Pakistan’s star all-rounder Shahid Afridi also announced his retirement from ODI cricket after the 2015 World Cup.

However, he said, that he will only continue to play T20 cricket matches for Pakistan as a captain.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will be held in Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29.

The mega event will kick off with first One-Day International (ODI) between New Zealand and Sri Lanka on February 14 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch whereas Pakistan will begin their campaign against arch-rivals India on February 15 in a day-night match at Adelaide Oval.

The final match of the mega event will take place on March 29 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
