Mohammad Amir to return for South Africa Tour

SportsMohammad Amir to return for South Africa Tour

Pakistan is likely to recall left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir for the South Africa Tour while inclusion of Mohammad Abbasi in the Test Squad is conditional to his fitness.

The national team will tour South Africa later this month for three Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals.

The first Test of three-match series will be held at Centurion from December 26-30 followed by the second Test at Cape Town from January 3-7, 2019 and then the last Test at Johannesburg from January 11-15, 2019.

Mohammad Amir remained wicketless in Asia Cup 2018

Sources said that the team selection for the three-match Test series is being finalized. They said that Mohammad Amir will return to the Pakistan Squad in place of Bilal Asif.

The 26-year-old Mohammad Amir played his last Test for Pakistan against England at Leeds from June 1-3, 2018.

Following his dismal performance in Asia Cup 2018, Amir was dropped from the team; and thereafter, he didn’t feature in Test series against England and New Zealand.

Sources said that Mohammad Abbas is suffering from a shoulder injury; therefore, he will have to pass a fitness test. If he succeeds in the test, he will also be included in the Test Squad.

Unfortunately, Fakhar Zaman has also sustained a knee injury and there are very slim chances of his appearance in the Test series against South Africa.

Fakhar Zaman has so far played just one Test for Pakistan and that was against Australia at Abu Dhabi in October 2018, in which he scored 160 runs in his both innings.

Sources said that the inclusion of Shan Masood as the third opener and wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan for the Test series is also on the card.
