THE HAGUE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a meeting on the sidelines of 3rd Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague Tuesday and exchanged views on the prospects of bilateral cooperation in different sectors, particularly in energy.
During the meeting the two leaders also discussed regional situation.
The prime minister assured the German Chancellor that Pakistan would fully cooperate in the process of the withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan.
The German Chancellor lauded Pakistan’s role in the reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
Later talking to media, the prime minister said that talks with the German Chancellor were fruitful. He said that he thanked the German Chancellor for the support to Pakistan in getting GSP Plus status approved from the European Union.
Sharif is in The Hague to attend the two-day Nuclear Security Summit, aimed at promoting nuclear security through voluntary national actions and international cooperation.
The summit is being attended by 58 world leaders including US President Barrack Obama, US President Barrack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
