ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: There is no proper Sanitary Landfil Site in Islamabad for disposal of about 600 tons of garbage generated daily in the Federal Capital, the Minister of State for Interior Shahryar Afridi told the National Assembly.

In a written reply submitted in the House, the minister said that however, the garage is being disposed of at temporary Waste Containment Site located in Sector I-12 since 2011.

Shehryar Afridi told that the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) is providing regular sanitation services i.e. sweeping garbage collection & its transportation to the Final Disposal Site to the citizens off all the Sectors of Islamabad.

To another question, Shahryar Afridi told the House that pollen allergy in Islamabad is mostly caused by shedding of pollens from the Paper Mulberry Tree, Eucalyptus Tree, Cannabis and Grass etc.

The state minister said that the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), MCI has a network of 11 Medical Centers which have medicines including anti-allergies, oxygen cylinders, nebulization, etc. He said that pollen allergy season lasts from March to last week of May each year, and these Medical Centers provide treatment to the patients of pollen allergy.

Shehryar Afridi also told that capacity of the staff has been built for creating awareness among the masses for preventive measures.
