Pak-Australia ‘bilateral political consultations’ held in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The fourth round of ‘Bilateral Political Consultations’ between Pakistan and Australia was held in Islamabad, during which the entire range of bilateral relations were figured.

The foreign secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry represented Pakistan, while the Australian side was led by secretary for department of foreign affairs and trade Peter Varghese.

During the consultations, Varghese appreciated Pakistan’s role and efforts in combating terrorism.

The Australian department of foreign affairs and trade secretary also called on the prime minister’s advisor on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz. During the meeting, the need for further enhancing the trade and economic ties was underlined.

Moreover, Varghese had a constructive meeting with the finance minister Ishaq Dar and shared views on promoting economic ties between the two countries.

It was agreed that the next round of ‘Bilateral Political consultations’ will be held in Canberra next year.
