HARARE: Pakistan beat host Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second one day international of three-match ODI series at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.
Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field and invite Pakistan for batting first. Pakistan scored 299 runs after losing four wickets and set target of 300 runs for Zimbabwe.
Pakistan’s Vice Skipper Mohammad Hafeez made century and scored 136 runs on 130 balls.
Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq made only three runs and played 23 balls in brief batting this day. Umar Amin scored 59 runs on 71 runs, Shahid Afridi made 23 runs on 35 balls.
Nasir Jamshed scored 32 on 45 runs, Ahmad Shehzad made 5 runs on nine balls while host team bowlers added 25 runs as extras in Pakistan score.
Zimbabwe started very well and played confidently while chasing 300 runs target, set by the green shirts.
During Zimbabwe batting, it seemed that Zimbabwe may cause another upset today but when skipper Taylor returned to pavilion after scoring impressive 79 runs on 95 balls, the situation changed altogether.
After Taylor, Zimbabwe lost quick wickets and all team could score only 209 runs in 42.4 overs. Pakistan bowlers gave 11 runs as extras to the host team.
The ODI series has been equalized by 1-1 as first match was one by Zimbabwe and second by Pakistan this day. Now third and final match will decide that which team would win three-match ODI series.
