ISTANBUL, Turkey: Preparatory meeting of the delegates from the member states of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) started here on Monday to finalize the papers and agenda for the 13th Summit of the Organization.
The senior officials who met at different meetings discussed the agenda for the summit and the working program also considering the outcome of the documents of the summit for submitting to ministerial meeting.
They are also discussing the draft agenda and draft working paper for the council of foreign ministers meeting as well as election of the members of Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC).
The participants deliberated on number of issues while preparing agenda like Election of the Bureau, questions of Palestine and Arab Israeli conflict, conflict situation in Muslim world and migration, Islamophobia, combating terrorism and violent extremism and humanitarian situation in the Muslim world besides number of other issues.
The delegates also discussed advancing scientific cooperation among the member states as well as advancing cultural, social and information cooperation in the Muslim world and poverty eradication and development of infrastructure.
The draft papers and the recommendations of these groups will be presented to the summit for adoption for setting the future course to cope with the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah.
The heads of the states and the governments shall be meeting on April 14 and 15 to discuss issues pertaining to safety and security of Muslim world and focus on measures for cooperation and welfare of the member Muslim nations.
Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) is a body of more than 55 Muslim states from four continents and was established in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco in September 1969 at a historical summit as a result of criminal arson of Al-Aqsa mosque. Its present Secretary General, the 10th in the series, is Iyad Amin Madni, from Saudi Arabia who assumed office in 2014.
Pakistan is an active member of OIC since its inception in 1969 and always played a vibrant role for promoting Muslim brotherhood as well as boosting cooperation for peace and progress.
