Pre-Matches Story!
In an interesting combination, Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host two more matches in HBL PSL 2018 on Friday between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultan – two top teams so far in the competition – and between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United – two least successful teams.
Karachi Kings under new Captain Imad Wasim have so far been unbeaten and placed top of the PSL 2018 Point Table with six points. Even a loss against third-placed Multan Sultans in today’s match will unlikely be depriving them from the top spot.
It would be the first time when Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans would face each other in Pakistan Super League.
In today’s second T20 scheduled to begin at 9:00 pm PST, victory-less Lahore Qalandars would aim at rattling Islamabad United to bag two points. So far Lahore Qalandars have delivered disappointing performances especially with the bat and suffered three consecutive defeats. Another defeat would further shrink Lahore Qalandars’ chances to qualify for final battles to be fought on Pakistani soil.
Even overall Lahore Qalandars have yet to fire and prove their worth as with 26.31%, they have been maintaining the lowest winning percentage since 2016. But if a team which Lahore Qalandars have been competitive with is Islamabad United. Out of four T20s between them, Lahore Qalandars won two and recorded 50% success – the highest against any other opponent.
Earlier on Thursday night, Peshawar Zalmi Captain Darren Sammy’s scintillating performance snatched a victory against Quetta Gladiators in HBL PSL 2018 10th match.
Helped by Shane Watson’s 47 runs, Quetta Gladiators scored 141 for 8 in 20 overs while batting first. Once Quetta Gladiators had almost tightened their grip in the match but Darren Sammy’s blitz in the end stunned the opponents. Peshawar Zalmi Captain scored 16 runs off just 4 balls with two massive sixes and one four.
Darren Sammy received the Man of the Match award for his all-around performance as he also picked up two wickets while bowling.
