Except one ODI, India was clearly the dominant in group B and entered the Semi Final Stage as a topper. It’s been deemed as the favorites since the event kicked off but one more upset can knock it out.
Both India and Bangladesh are well equipped with decent battling lineup, and a record partnership by Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah against New Zealand in Cardiff would surely have given a further boost to Bangladesh.
So far, Indian Shikhar Dhawan is the leading scorer with 271 runs in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 while Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal is the second highest individual scorer with 123 runs after Joe Root’s 133.
It’s Bangladeshi first ever entrance in the Semi Final Stage of ICC Champions Trophy though India has already been Champions twice in 2002 and 2013.
Historically India’s record against Bangladesh has always been virtuous as out of 32 ODIs between them, India bagged triumph in 26 matches whereas Bangladesh clinched victory in 5.
But Bangladesh is known for making upsets and shocking World Cricket with its rare belligerent performance. It’s been a developing Side and as years pass, an improvement is being witnessed in it. Since ICC World Cup 2015, Bangladesh has defeated top eight teams 11 times.
Whosoever wins today, will play the Final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 against Pakistan at The Oval on June 18.
