Following story was posted prior to the beginning of 2nd T20 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Abu Dhabi on October 27, 2017.
Pakistan is looking impregnable now especially against Sri Lanka which was once again outclassed by the Host in the opening match of T20 series at Abu Dhabi on Thursday night.
But Sri Lanka now has to improve things quickly if it wants to escape another series loss because with first two T20s having no hiatus hasn’t left much time for Islanders to have deep-rooted and time consuming contemplation.
The two teams will engage again with each other in the second T20 on Friday at the very same venue where they met last night.Â
In the first T20, Pakistan thrashed Sri Lanka and won the inaugural T20 by seven wickets. Again, it was Pakistani’s bowling attack which made the difference as it didn’t allow the Sri Lankans to put a competitive score on the board.
While batting first, Sri Lanka was bowled out for just 102 runs in 18.3 overs. Only Sadeera Samarawickrama and Seekkuge Prasanna could cross the 20 figure, and scored 23 runs each.
Hasan Ali once again prevailed and picked up 3 wickets while Usman Khan and Muhammad Hafeez bagged 2 wickets each. Likewise, one wicket went to Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf each.
Pakistan reached the target of 103 runs in 17.2 overs with seven wickets still remaining. Shoaib Malik scored unbeaten 42 runs, Muhammad Hafeez scored unbeaten 25 runs while Ahmed Shahzad made 22.
For Sri Lanka, Vikum Sanjaya took 2 wickets and Sachith Pathirana took one.
It’s been marvelous performance by Pakistan in T20Is since World T20 2016 as during the period, Pakistan played 11 T20s and won nine of them. With a winning percentage of 81.81, Pakistan is occupying the top position at Highest Win Percentage Chart depicting the story since last World T20.
Whereas Sri Lanka is at the bottom as it managed to bag just five wins out of 12 T20s, maintaining 41.66 winning percentage during the corresponding period.
