LONDON: Pakistani bowlers especially Yasir Shah bowled exceedingly well on Friday as they managed to take 7 wickets before second day of first Test ended with England’s 253 runs.

Yasir Shah took 5 wickets for 64 runs in his 25 overs, the first leg-spinner having secured 5 or more wickets in last 20 years at Lord’s.

Muhammad Amir, who was resuming his Test career after the ban imposed on him for his involvement in spot fixing during 2010 Lord’s Test was lifted in September last year, initially remained unlucky as two catches were dropped on his bowling by Muhammad Hafeez and Wicket Keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed. Alastair Cook was the batsman on both occasions; however, later Amir bowled the England Captain when he was on 81. Rahat Ali also picked up one wicket for 68.

For England, Cook was the top scorer with 81 runs followed by Joe Root with 48. Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad were batting on 31 and 11 runs respectively at stumps on day 2.

England still trail by 86 runs of the Pakistan’s first innings total of 339 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan resumed their first innings against England at 282 runs for 6 but were all out for 339. Misbah-ul-Haq who had completed his maiden century in England on Thursday was bowled by Stuart Broad on 114.

England’s squad for first Test at Lord’s 

Alastair Cook (Captain), Alex Hales, Joe Root, James Vince, Gary Ballance, Jonny Bairstow (Wicket Keeper), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Stuart Broad, Steven Finn and Jake Ball.

This is the first Test of four-match series between Pakistan and England. They will also play five one day internationals (ODIs) and a T20 match following the Test series.
