Saeed Ajmal clears unofficial bowling action test

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has cleared an unofficial test on his bowling action he gave on Monday in England.

His all deliveries including doosra were within the legitimate 15-degree limit, according to the test results.

The 37-year-old Ajmal is currently banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) from bowling in international cricket over his illegal bowling action.

Saeed Ajmal will undergo an official ICC testing in Chennai’s Sri Ramachandra University on January 24, to assess his remodelled bowling action.

If his action is found to be legal, his ban from bowling in international cricket will be lifted.

Ajmal was suspended from bowling on September 9 last year after his action was deemed to be illegal for all deliveries.

“An independent analysis has found the bowling action of Pakistan’s off-spinner Saeed Ajmal to be illegal and, as such, the player has been suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect,” an ICC release said.

“The analysis revealed that all his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.”

Over the last four months, Saeed Ajmal had been undergoing extensive remedial work on his action with former legendary off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq.
