Steve Smith won’t be available for Multan Sultans in the upcoming Fourth Edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) as the former Australian Captain needs to go through an elbow surgery on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old Steve Smith was bought by Multan Sultans under Platinum Category along with Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik; however, since he requires a surgery on his right elbow, his return to International Cricket as well as participating in PSL now doesn’t look happening soon.

“Steve Smith will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair a ligament in his right elbow. He is expected to wear a brace for six weeks before commencing rehabilitation. Return to play time frames will be clearer once the brace has been removed,” a Cricket Australia (CA) spokesman said.

Steve Smith along with David Warner and Cameron Bancroft has been facing a one-year ban for his role in a ball tampering incident. His ban will end in March 2019 and after that, his services will be available.

However, the elbow surgery will definitely further delay his return to Cricket.

Stave Smith has so far played 64 Tests, 108 ODIs and 30 T20Is for Australia, and maintains a batting average of 61.37, 41.84 and 21.55 respectively in all formats.
