The Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Turkish Stream gas pipeline can pass through Hungary bypassing the Ukrainian territories.
Putin made these remarks in a Press Conference he held along with the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
The Russian president said that during talks, they discussed the possibilities of connecting Hungarian partners to new gas transportation projects.
“I do not exclude that one of the overland extensions of the “Turkish stream” can pass through Hungary,” Putin said.
Putin also added that Russia provides 60 percent of the Hungarian gas consumption.
The Hungarian prime minister said that “The Russian president says that when the gas pipeline starts from the south, he can come to Hungary again. We would like it to pass through Hungary, and I have seriously asked the president to think about this possibility.”
Orban said that he had agreed with the Russian side on gas supplies for 2020.
It is pertinent to mention that Russia is working on several possibilities to bypass Ukraine for providing natural gas to European Countries.
Russia is the biggest natural as well as LPG gas supplier of European Countries but NATO countries are constantly putting political pressure on Russia through multidimensional sanctions over Ukraine issue where according to NATO, Russia is behind separatists.
