KARACHI: At least two persons were killed while several others sustained injuries when they were cought in crossfire between two entrenched armed groups at Al-Asif Square near Sohrab Goth in Karachi, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
Violence broke out when attendees of the funerals of the Abbas Town blast victims came under fire near Sohrab Goth.
Several buses were reportedly torched on super highway, whereas two ambulances was also set ablaze in the area.
The sources said that heavy firing is under way around Ancholi, Abbas Town and Al-Asif Square, while lawmen are nowhere to be found.
According to a Rangers spokesman, the audacious gunmen targeted a Rangers vehicle which arrived at the scene later that resulted in the injuries of at least five paramilitary troops including an officers. The injured Rangers are under treatment in CMH Malir for bullet-injuries in a hospital, he said.
Police also claimed several of their men who sustained bullet-wounds were rushed to hospitals, where some of them are critical.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has banned the pillion riding on motorbikes from midnight today (March 5, 2013).
