ABU DHABI: A top United Arab Emirates court on Wednesday awarded three-year jail term to a Pakistani driver at a foreign embassy in the UAE for spying for a foreign country, the official UAE news agency reported.
The Pakistani driver, recruited by an intelligence officer, had supplied photographs of meetings in the Gulf country between UAE officials and foreign delegates, the Federal Supreme Court ruled.
The agency reported that he had confessed to having received 30,000 dirhams (more than $8,000) from the officer whom he met several times at the embassy headquarters and at the Iranian hospital in Dubai.
