Earlier last night, Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten 131 runs and Abdullah Shafique’s maiden ODI century helped Pakistan to succeed in the highest-ever chase in the World Cup history with six wickets in hand.

While batting first, Sri Lanka put 344 runs on the board with the loss of 9 wickets. Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama smashed 122 and 108 runs respectively with excellent strike rates.

In reply, Pakistan though lost two early wickets of Imam Ul Haq and Babar Azam but the subsequent two back-to-back partnerships – first 176-run partnership between Rizwan and Shafique and then 95 runs between Rizwan and Saud Shakeel – steered the side to a comfortable victory in 48.2 overs.
