US cuts some military aid to Thailand after coup

WASHINGTON: The United States has suspended $3.5 million worth of military aid to Thailand and urged the Thailand’s armed forces to restore civilian rule in the country immediately.

The move came after the army took control of the government and suspended the constitution in the Asian country.

The US State Department has also urged tourists to cancel trips and halted non-essential visits by government officials to Thailand.
