ABUJA: At least 21 persons were killed while 27 others sustained injuries when an explosion occurred at a centre showing a football World Cup match in the northeast Nigerian town of Damaturu.
The blast took place in the Nayi-Nama area of the city on Tuesday night when people were watching a match of the ongoing football World Cup between host Brazil and Mexico on large screens, a foreign news agency reported on Wednesday.
