From 1988 to 2017, India and Bangladesh have been face to face in 33 One Day Internationals (ODI), out of which the former won 27 ODIs, the latter clinched victory in five while one ended without producing any result.
Like India-Bangladesh equation, Pakistan have also been well dominant over Afghanistan as both the previous ODIs between them were won by green shirts.
However, a very talented and promising Afghanistan may upset Pakistan this time, which in their last match against India suffered a humiliating eight-wicket defeat.
In Asia Cup 2018, Pakistan has only beaten Hong Kong but Afghanistan thrashed comparatively much-experienced sides, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It is worth noting here that so far all matches of Asia Cup 2018 have been one-sided, including of Afghanistan’s.
If Pakistan has another loss today, it would further slim their chances of reaching the final to be held at Dubai on September 28.
For today’s ODI, Pakistan may make a couple of changes. Muhammad Nawaz may replace Shadab Khan who is facing an injury issue, and Shaheen Afridi may join the playing XI in replacement of Mohammad Amir whose inability to pick up wickets has become a major concern for the team management. Haris Sohail’s inclusion in today’s match is also not ruled out.
